SAP-PK have a firm belief that conferences and dialogues are an imperative strategy to expands the horizon of thinking, which directs the individuals to take mutually-benefited decision after scrutinizing the adopted issues on different criterion. The conferences and dialogue series, was initiated taking into account the fact that development workers could only bring about a positive change in the system if they possessed a comprehensive knowledge of the cultural, historical, social and economic realities of the people. The objective of the conferences/dialogues is to help the participants link their micro issues with the macro ones.

 

Peace Conference - February 24, 2010

South Asia Partnership Pakistan has organized Peace Conference on “Rising Terrorism and importance of peace in Pakistan”. Hundreds of civil society representatives and local people participated in this conference. The speakers of the conference; Dr. Abdul Malik (Balochistan), Syed Aalim Mahsud (NWFP), Taj Haider (Sindh), Khalid Ahmad (Punjab) and Asma Jehangir in first session of the conference and second session's speakers of the conference; Rubina Saigol, Zulfiqar Shah, Kishwar Naheed and Provincial Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah. Kishwar Naheed read a poem on peace. The speaker while speaking on the occasion stressed that the identity of state must be secular. They said that Pakistan must stop intervening in Afghanistan and have good relation with neighbors. The speakers also said that media should play its role in sensitizing people on peace, especially by focusing youth between the ages of nine to fifteen years. The participants also raised questions to the speakers.
